Hello, I have a 22 week old cockatiel. I've separated him and his parents which are in another room. Alex doesn't seem to like being separated from them, and the birds 'yell' back at forth. Alex is finally quiet when I bring him to the other room. I was wondering if there is anything I can do about this? I have Alex separated because I'm attempting to tame and train him, but he also has a low attention span, it seems. Thanks for any help.

Dear Christy,

We know exactly what you're talking about. All that "yelling" back and forth is enough to make the short hair on your neck stand up. Sometimes you almost wish they were battery operated.

I'm afraid you will have to put up with it though unless you can seperate the birds to where they can't hear each other. It's only natural that they prefer to be together. Until Alex prefers your company over the other birds, he'll probably act just like he's acting now...like a bird. Patience and determination on your part are the keys.
