We just bought a baby cockatiel from a lady who had nine birds, 2
are lutinos and the rest were pearls, 3 were the babies. The mother and
father were beautiful. The bird is 5 weeks old. Is there some special care
tips that you could give us.
Thanks,
Loretta Alexander
Dear Loretta,
We assume since the bird is only 5 weeks old, it is still being handfed. At 5 weeks our babies are being handfed 3 times daily and are offered a small shallow dish of cockatiel seed and a piece of millet to investigate. This is also the time we introduce them to a cage with 1 low and 1 high perch. At this young age just about all you can do is keep them clean, warm, and well fed.
