My 1 year old cockatiel "Budster" has picked up the bad habit of crawling underneath the newspaper on the bottom of his cage. Is this type of behavior normal? I think he is just playing, but how can I discourage this dirty habit? -Curtis

Buster has apparently become sexually mature and is trying, the best he knows how, to build a nest. The easiest solution is to either place a grate above the paper or discontinue using paper an replacing it with another lining such as pine shavings.
