I'm thinking about getting a four month old Latino Cockatiel. What is an average buying price? How big should the cage be, and where should I put it? How much will the bird eat?
Thanks, Ryan
Ryan,
The price one pays for a companion bird is relative to the quality of the
bird. Though none of us want to pay more than necessary, the health/quality
of your potential bird is most important. The price range can also depend
on whether you're getting it from an individual, a pet shop or a bird breeder.
It is recommended a cockatiel cage should be approximately 20" x 20" x 20". That size allows enough room for a couple of toys and leaves plenty of room to roam around. We can't tell you where to place your birds cage, but we can tell you what to avoid. Avoid drafts, especially heat and air conditioning vents, and avoid areas close to kitchens.
