I've read not to place the cage near TV's due to the thought that the cathodes from the picture tube may harmful to the bird. What do you know about this? The only safe room for my birds is in my home office/family room - the rest of my house is open to my 3 cats, and we end up spending most of our time in my office anyway - but it does have a small TV in it that my husband watches to keep me company while I do some work. Also, does a computer potentially cause the same harm? That is ALWAYS running. I also have 3 parakeets in this same office. Since I read about the possible harm, I have put the cage cover along the side of the cage pointing to the TV - is this sufficient, or even necessary - and what about when I have him out of the cage - it's not exactly a big office, and the TV's always in sight. Is this a proven fact? I've also read of other people's birds really enjoying TV and not too many people seem very worried. I'd love some input please! Thanks!

Michele,

We don't recommend putting a bird's cage on top of a TV but a cage just a couple of feet away should be fine.

We have had birds that appear to enjoy watching and suffered no ill effects. As long as you practice good safety, we can see no harm.
