Our cockatiel Polly flies INSIDE of our house. Of course, we make sure that all windows and doors are closed. Polly really mastered flying and EASILY avoids all walls and other obstacles. She follows us around the house and has few favorite places to rest. I would like to argue that ability of flight under SAFE circumstances makes Polly happy and more healthy. I do not think that clipping of the wings ought to be mandatory! Please respond.

Kazik,

You will not get an argument from us. It isn't mandatory to clip wings, but we feel it is in the birds' best interest, and an owner's responsibility to protect our pets from injuring themselves or escaping into a world where they may not be capable of surviving.

It's great that you make sure all windows and doors are closed, but what happens, when one day a door has been forgotten or someone enters a door, not knowing the bird is flying around? It only takes a second to EASILY fly out that door or window.
