My mother-in-laws Pet female cockatiel has had 7 eggs and has an 8th in the oven is this normal? To our knowledge this bird has never been bred, should we breed her? Thanks for all your help.

Laura,
It is very common for a hen to lay eggs without having been bred. Sometimes
when a bird becomes sexually mature, Mother Nature takes over. Whether you
breed her or not, you must take two things into consideration.
If you choose to breed, you will then have your responsibilities inreased. The feeding, cleaning, and grooming could be doubled or tripled which means you'll have to spend more money and more of your time will be required.
Try to distract her by providing different toys for her to play with or cut back on the hours of daylight she is used to. Maybe more than anything else, be sure she has a supply of calcium at all times. Calcium is best provided in mineral blocks or cuttlebone.
