I'm just beginning to look for a bird and was considering
the cockatiel. Could you please provide me with some
guidance as to what to look for in a bird?
Kevin
Kevin,
Obviously, we feel that a cockatiel would fill the bill. When looking for
that special bird, your initial focus should be a healthy bird, preferably
from a reputable cockatiel breeder. A healthy bird will have a clean vent
area, clear nostrils, bright clear eyes and have overall good substance.
Look for one that is active and shows no evidence of trouble in flying or
perching. Take your time in choosing, because after you both get home, it
could be too late to change your mind.
