My 8 month old Male? chirps all the time and attempts to mouth words, but at this stage doesn't say a thing. This is despite regular long sessions repeating words and phrases. Any clues?

It sounds like your tiel is attempting to talk. It seems like they are never going to learn and then they will surprise you one morning by saying their first words. We would suggest shorter sessions though. Shorter sessions keeps the bird and you from becoming bored and frustrated. Continue to repeat the words and phrases that you would like for him to learn using shorter sessions and you should see results soon.
