I had a 'tiel that got out and flew into the neighbors yard. The next day he died. He was squawking so loudly when he was in their yard that they came out to see what the problem was. I got to him pretty quickly, and I could tell that he was in pretty good shape. But, he was extremely excited or upset. That night he was doing okay, but not the same old Syd. I looked in his cage and his stools were like water and frequent. He soon died. The lady at the pet store that I bought him from said that they can go into shock from an incident like this and that there isn't really anything that can be done to stop it. Is this true? I have bought another since this has happened. Thanks.

Terry,
Probably the best thing you could have done was to have taken him to an
avian vet. Birds are very susceptible to becoming stressed and, sadly,
often that stress ends with the bird dying. If a bird becomes extremely
stressed, keeping the bird warm, until you get to a vet, can be the best
emergency treatment you can provide.
It's nice that you have another cockatiel and we'll assume that this bird's wings have been properly clipped.
