We are thinking of buying a cockatiel to keep as a pet along with our two canaries. All our birds have their own cage - only being locked in when we are not home. They will all get out to play together when we are at home. I have read that 'tiels are good with smaller birds but your advice would be appreciated.

A pet cockatiel would be a great addition to your home. Cockatiels are universal birds and blend with a variety of other birds, including canaries. Just in case you haven't thought of it, please have the cockatiels wings clipped to prevent escape or physical injury. If you happen to get a male cockatiel, don't be surprised to have it mimmicking the canaries song.
